Říkejte „He’s cunning as a fox“ a ne „He’s lubricated as a fox“, což je častá chyba českých studentů.
Fun fact for the English-speaking: because the word „mazaný“ means both cunning („mazaný člověk“ – a cunning man) and „spread with something spreadable“ („chleba mazaný máslem“ = buttered bread), it’s easy for a native Czech speaker to conflate the two meanings in English and help themselves out with the false friend „lubricated“, hilarity ensues.
